WIPHOLD celebrates its 20th anniversary. WIPHOLD has become South Africa’s largest black owned investment company dedicated to empowering black women. The organisation is rooted in social impact values, nurtured by a balance sheet totalling R2 billion that has distributed close to R500 million to shareholders and beneficiaries over its 20-year existence.
WIPHOLD Agriculture represents the realisation of a long-term vision to build capacity and operational excellence throughout the agriculture value chain. The operational arm draws on the intrinsic value that local communities have in their communal land. This model aims to develop commercial maize farming on more than 4 000 ha in the Eastern Cape by 2018 that will benefit 3 000 landowners.

The Mamba Cement plant in Limpopo starts production. This joint venture with Continental Cement and African Rhino Cement is the culmination of a long-standing partnership and shared vision to contribute to the construction industry.

WIPHOLD invests in AFGRI Grain Silo Company. WIPHOLD gains a 3% direct stake in Merensky Timber and a 3.3% indirect stake in Westfalia Fruit through holding company Hans Merensky Holdings.
